New Year Blog Tour- Fourth Stop-Linda Lee Greene

1. What is your genre of choice? Why did you choose this genre?I am one of those odd birds who doesn’t confine herself to a particular genre. My first book, an Amazon best-seller, Jesus Gandhi Oma Mae Adams (http://www.amazon.com/Linda-Lee-Greene/e/B00864OVWA), co-authored with Debra Shiveley Welch, is categorized as a murder mystery, but because of the history included in it, it is just as strongly a book of historical fiction. Guardians and Other Angels (http://www.amazon.com/Guardians-Other-Angels-Linda-Greene/dp/1897512562/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1338336762&sr=8-1),my current novel, is primarily one of historical fiction although it can be regarded as a memoir and a family saga. My third book will cater to young readers. In queue with my publisher, are my two sequels to Jesus Gandhi Oma Mae Adams. The first is a mystery novel, and the second, a love story. Both are spiced with a touch of the paranormal.

    

2. What are you working on now?Adapted from an excerpt of Guardians and Other Angels, my novella for young readers titled, Bussy Gaffin and His Champion Roosters is my newest project. The story is finished and it is now with the illustrator. My hope is that it will be released in the coming weeks. 
   

    

3. If you have published something, tell us about it.In their debut novel, Jesus Gandhi Oma Mae Adams, co-authors, Linda Lee Greene and Debra Shiveley Welch plumb the depths of the human soul in a thrilling murder mystery comprising the supernatural and intriguing suspense, spiced with history, romance, and unpredictable twists and turns.

Charismatic, enigmatic, televangelist and philanthropist, Dr. Oma Mae Adams lives a mission- filled life linked through fate to Gandhi and directed by Jesus. Yet despite such divine favor, she is humanly vulnerable after all, as in the end, diabolical forces hold sway. Gunned down in front of the television station where she tapes her popular religious program, her shocking death leaves a bereft world with two questions: who killed Oma Mae Adams, and why?

Reaching across the years and striking a chord with people of today, Guardians and Other Angels is inspired by a dramatic true story of two Southern Ohio families during the Great Depression and World War II who also struggled for their fair share of the American Dream of hope, freedom and opportunity. Through dozens of authentic private letters written by the characters and included in the book, readers are given an insider’s view of the hearts and minds and day-to-day experiences of a singular group of people called upon to be counted among the greatest generation in history. It is a preserved anthology remarkable in its powerful chronicling the incomparable history of those times, as well. Although spanning the years of 1936 to 1941, the letters could have been written by modern-day families and friends of troops and diplomatic personnel who, like their forebears, are risking their lives in hotspots around the world to protect their way of life and their country.

4. How did you get started writing?

   Although I have always written poetry and done business-related writing, my professional book-writing career began with my penning the original manuscript of Jesus Gandhi Oma Mae Adams. It was during a time that I was bedridden with a chronic illness (now in remission), and I look upon it as God’s way of showing me that I had something for which to live, a purpose to be fulfilled.

5. What is the message you want people to get from your current work or work-in-progress?

Bussy Gaffin and His Champion Roosters does have a message for young readers. It teaches the tough life-lesson of cause and effect. Now that I think about it, I think that the universal law of cause and effect is a strong element in all of my books.

6. Do your stories come more from your own experiences or from observation of others?

While Guardians and Other Angels and Bussy Gaffin and His Champion Roosters are based on a true story broadened by my imagination, Jesus Gandhi Oma Mae Adams came solely from my imagination.

7. Is there anything you would like to share with us about you and/or your writing?

I am the mother of a son and a daughter and the grandmother of two grandsons. In addition to being a writer, I am an award-winning artist and an interior designer. 8. In your best dream, where would you like to be? This doesn’t have to be related to your writing.

In my best dream, all of the hours of my day would belong to me to write and to paint, and the products of my efforts would be successful enough to provide me with a comfortable retirement. My good health would continue and allow me to travel, as well as to spend several weeks of the year with family and friends in places beyond the borders of Central Ohio.
