A Home Run Story!! G Mitchell Baker

July 31, 2013

I am happy to have my good friend, author G Mitchell Baker with me today. Please help me welcome him!

Mitch, you have had an interesting life. How about sharing a favorite childhood memory with us?

When I started playing organized sports, baseball was a very popular summertime sport. And, although there were some family members who liked the sport, I sort of adopted as my own passion. I read anything and everything about the sport. I read Ted Williams’ book on hitting and it changed my life… I was self-taught in so many way … regarding so many subjects… There came of it a confidence that lead to me being the foremost hitter on national championship teams. One of my fondest memories, most clear recollections was playing in the first national championship tournament in the fourth spot in the line-up … clean-up … Going into the last inning we were behind and I came to the plate with two on base and two out. I hit a walk-off homerun that won our first national championship game and I was mobbed at home plate… It was unexpected and I did not know how to react, other than to jump and fall and cheer with them as well. I recall the feeling of being mobbed by all my teammates … the collective joy was an immeasurable feeling that I am fortunate has lasted within me.

That’s an awesome story, Mitch! I can hear the cheering even now! It’s definitely a moment to be proud of!

Thanks so much for being my guest today! It has truly been a pleasure! Before we go, would you mind sharing something about you and links to your books?
